We are home from church today. Almost everyone in the family has been sick for a week with a nasty bug--it is a respiratory plus GI virus. I am the only one who has been unaffected, praise God, because that means I am able to take care of everyone. It has been extra work picking up the slack and doing the chores usually assigned to each of the children. However, I have felt so blessed to serve them and that I have the strength with which to do so. Currently, they are all watching movies downstairs and I am holding a feverish Amalea who just wants to cuddle and nurse. Even sick, this little girl is so joyful!
You see, I wouldn't trade my job, my life, with anyone, despite how much work comes with raising 8 children. Is it really too much work to raise a large family? I read THIS today, linked on someone else's blog and was so encouraged and, I admit, got more than a little fired-up! What a GREAT perspective on the work it takes to raise a large family versus someone who chooses to limit the amount of children they have based on the volume of work involved. Makes you think.

Thank you for these words today- they are just what I needed to hear. We have three little ones of our own and have just become licensed to provide foster care. I was fretting about having the room in our house and the energy and servant heart to add more children to our mix. If you can do it, certainly I can, too! Thank you.
I hope your family feels better soon! Saying a prayer for you as I start my day. I'm so glad you found that post encouraging, and thank you for the link. Keep up the VERY good work, Mama!
Thanks what a great post, I needed to hear that this morning.....being a full time MOM is a calling from God. Blessings

Laura - thanks for sharing. I think she speaks for all of us working at home, regardless of family size. I am so busy that I don't know how I'd get it all done with a job outside the home. I hope everyone is feeling better soon! God bless, Kathy
Thank you so much for sharing this link and your own thoughts. These days will pass whether I am busy at home or not. So thankful for this eternal investment. I hope you continue to feel well!
I admire you for being able to handle it all! Hope everyone is feeling better now! :)
