Too Much Work?

We are home from church today. Almost everyone in the family has been sick for a week with a nasty bug--it is a respiratory plus GI virus. I am the only one who has been unaffected, praise God, because that means I am able to take care of everyone. It has been extra work picking up the slack and doing the chores usually assigned to each of the children. However, I have felt so blessed to serve them and that I have the strength with which to do so. Currently, they are all watching movies downstairs and I am holding a feverish Amalea who just wants to cuddle and nurse. Even sick, this little girl is so joyful!

You see, I wouldn't trade my job, my life, with anyone, despite how much work comes with raising 8 children. Is it really too much work to raise a large family? I read THIS today, linked on someone else's blog and was so encouraged and, I admit, got more than a little fired-up! What a GREAT perspective on the work it takes to raise a large family versus someone who chooses to limit the amount of children they have based on the volume of work involved. Makes you think.

In Christ, Laura

Thank you for these words today- they are just what I needed to hear. We have three little ones of our own and have just become licensed to provide foster care. I was fretting about having the room in our house and the energy and servant heart to add more children to our mix. If you can do it, certainly I can, too! Thank you.

Laura - thanks for sharing. I think she speaks for all of us working at home, regardless of family size. I am so busy that I don't know how I'd get it all done with a job outside the home. I hope everyone is feeling better soon! God bless, Kathy
