Thank you for posting this. I have never read the books or seen the movies. I know the premise of the story and thought it a bad idea to get sucked in. It is so interesting to hear the history behind the books. After watching this video I got sucked into a Mark Discroll Youtube black hole and my husband and I watched an hour's worth of snippets of his sermons. It was a good way to start the week. I hope your family has a great Thanksgiving!

Just saw this on Kim's blog today and am definitely going to re-post.

NO! I do not read this trash, but I sure know other Christians that see no harm in it. Yuck!

My teens will be watching this tomorrow, as well ... and hopefully my young adults will take a look, too.

My 11 year old was listening intently while I watched with my husband, and he jumped right in to tell us about a girl in his Sunday School class who's parents "don't make her" go to church. They let her sit in an empty classroom and read "Harry Potter" while her parents are in service. (Sunday School is after service, and the 5th grade and above are "supposed" to attend service with their parents.) My son was so sad that this child was reading trashy books instead of hearing our pastor's sermon.

Thanks for sharing. I hope that others will spread this very valuable message.

Emily, I did, too! LOL! Good stuff, huh? He is a good speaker! He speaks the truth boldly.

Laurel, that is sad that they don't make her go! No wonder our children are walking away from the church in droves!

But, what a temptation our young adults face today! So much garbage out there!

You know what I love? I too love that he speaks boldly ... and yet still has a "huge" church. I don't know much about him or "his church" (b/c we are all the church).. but what I heard... was so right on. I am so tired of pastors and Christians shrinking from the Truth b/c they don't want to offend. Thankfully we belong to a body of believers with a pastor who isn't afraid to tell us the hard Truth either... but I think there are few sadly. Jesus offended people all the time (lol) but he did so in love and through Truth!

Off my soapbox :)

I have a hard time respecting anyone who has to put down another persons religion to make a point. That to me is never a good "fuit".

Hi Laura,
Hope you are doing well. I've been sharing your recipes with a friend who is undergoing chemo and has some dietary restrictions. She's enjoying it-thanks!
I know you are always reading and have a house full of readers. Any recommendations for my 3rd grade boy. He's on a sixth grade reading level but I'm finding it hard to match the level with what's appropriate...what's Jonas reading these days? Would love some suggestions...
Thank you,
Adri

So True!! I was invited to go with a group of women to see the last Twilight movie. I knew next to nothing about the series. I was offended by the movie and felt defiled. It bothered me for days. There was moms there with the young teen daughters. God help our young youth!!!! My oldest daughter is 12 going on 13 and I would never want her to have any part in something like that! I am so thankful for good literature!!
