Speaking of books...

Thankfully they are what our children most consistently turn to for entertainment. Not having a TV definitely helps. For the past couple of years they have begged every night to read (or look at) books in their beds but we have said no because with the lights on they just end up fooling around and with them off they obviously can't see the books. Well I finally fulfilled a promise I made to them months ago: to install reading lamps next to their beds.

We have let the kids fall sleep with books since they were old enough to look at the book!!!

Our "night" books look totally abused, I like to call it "well loved". And we feel our kids' LOVE of books is totally worth the damage. And they actually fall alseep easier for us when they have a bed full of books!!

Those are precious pictures! And your newborn daughter is just perfect! I was surprised to see that Abbi's hair is cut off for summer...looks like she and her brother got matching hair cuts! I'm sure it's easier in this awful heat!
I really admire you and your husband Laura. You are raising world changers.

I love these pictures! What a big book Anna is reading! Reading is a wonderful habit that you are instilling in your children--thanks for the inspiration.

Leah, yes-Anna LOVES reading. The only problem is she reads about 5 books at the same time and I cannot keep track and she has a bad habit of becoming so over-zealous about books that she doesn't finish the ones she is reading because she is so eager to start a new one! The book she is reading in the picture is "Anne of Green Gables". A good one! :)

That's great that they like their books so much! I am still missing a reading lamp at my bed, too.! :-)
