We have had a hard day. Actually, yesterday was really rough, too, but we did a lot of running around and with my mind elsewhere I was not on top of things. Today has been very difficult. I think Ruthie has thrown seven tantrums--and this from a child who had NEVER EVER tantrumed until we started to take control away. I actually see these as positive. Instead of keeping things bottled inside she is finally letting it out. I do not try to end the tantrum like I did with Jerome, I let her rage and get it out. She does not actually tantrum with us around, but waits until I leave the room to start yelling. Boy, is she mad!
Will tomorrow be better? I can only pray . . .

Oh my goodness, I am sorry Laura. We had two pee pee incidences complete with total out of control screaming today(just running to a friend's house to pick something up), and have sadly realized that it is going to be a long time before we can go anywhere again. I am starting to have nightmares. Obviously I am not being very encouraging here-but at least I can be one of those "you are not alone" people :)
I empathize...there must be something in the air today? We've a rough day here, too. It certainly is a step forward and a couple back, but we just keep moving forward and persevering. Praying you have a blessed weekend.
Laura,
It sounds like you are definitely getting to her heart! Congratulations! Doesn't that sound like a funny thing to say to a mom of a child throwing tantrums? LOL! Seriously, though, the rage and anger coming out probably means like she is finally feeling like she is NOT in control anymore and will hopefully help her to reach out in desperation for that relationship with you and Cameron! Praise the Lord! We are continuing to pray for you all!
2 of our 3 Ghanaian kids can throw tantrums like I've never seen before. And, with 10 bio. kids, I've seen a few tantrums over the past 25 years of parenting.
Our kids do what is called a "Ghanaian Wail". Never before heard such sounds.

Laurel, it is good to "meet" you. Yes, there is also a "Liberian" wail. For some reason, Ruthie doesn't do this wail--she screams and yells, but I am very familiar with the Liberian wail from past experience with the little boy who was once in our home.
