Meghan, I was taught some things by a couple of friends--one who is African-American and one who has adopted children from Haiti. In the picture, Ruthie is just wearing twists, which are really easy and quick to do.
I can cornrow, but I figured that out on my own--I watched a couple of friends (one from Liberia) and couldn't get the hang of it--I was sort of french-braiding Ruthie's hair, but pulling hair under instead of crossing on top like regular french-braiding. So, the finished product resembled cornrows, but wasn't. I was super frustrated and one day prayed that God would just impart the knowledge to me and He did! It was amazing. I never really had the experience before where God just made me able to do something that I wasn't able to do the previous moment. It isn't easy and I am still not great, but I am learning.
She's precious! I love the colors! Her hair looks great too. Good job. I learned to cornrow kind of like you too - how funny! Except then my dear daughter decided she wanted her head shaved and so I haven't been able to practice for a while! LOL!
She is so beautiful! I love them all! My son was looking at them to and said "is that going to be my sister?" Lol... he is so funny he wants a sister badly. My husband surprised me with pictures for my birthday. You can see them on my blog if you want. www.anotefromcarrie.blogspot.com Have a great day!
Hmm. When I saw those pictures, I thought of how those pictures will capture such a wonderful meaning and addition to the beautiful story our Lord is creating in her life. Not only did I see beauty, I saw so much that my heart can't explain. Oh, God is so good and I'm so glad that He brought her to you all. What an awesome testimony of His love and grace that He is building in that girl's life. How blessed you (and the family) to be apart of her story. To God be the glory for the great things He is doing. Zinnada<><

She is lovely and beautiful! I like very much the third last picture.
She is beautiful! Do you braid her hair? Did you take a class or did someone teach you?
Thank you, Jenny and Meghan!
